Test and Quiz Retake Policy

Quizzes:

All quizzes may be retaken until the day of the unit/chapter test.

Scores on the retakes will replace the earlier score.

Example:

quiz 8/10

retake 10/10

The 10/10 will be placed into the grade book.

Conditions:  Student must show something that they did differently to prepare for the quiz.

Tests:

All chapter tests may be retaken for up to a passing grade.  Retest must be taken within 2 weeks of the original test.

Example:

Chapter  Test    12/25  48%

Chapter Retest  20/25  80%

This retake score would be placed into the grade book as a 15/25   60%

Conditions:  Student must show something that they did differently to prepare for the test.

Rational:

Quizzes are used to provide feedback to both the teacher and student about how their learning is progressing.  Allowing retakes will provide students additional motivation to go back and learn missed concepts. This will also help them prepare for the chapter test.  Tests are used to provide evidence of learning and achievement.  Retakes offer an opportunity to both demonstrate that learning has occurred and that achievement should be reevaluated.
